“WOAH! What’s that light that just flashed in my eyes and blinded me? Oh wait, that was just the reflection of that massive gemstone that you have on your hand. Whoops, I meant your wedding ring.” I don’t know about all of you, but this is this is the dialogue that often plays in my head as I see women flaunt their exquisite finger jewels. The reason being is not because I do not support their engagement, because I do; you go girl! Rather, this dialogue is a result of jealousy. A jealousy that has developed out of society’s stigma that you can only flaunt rocks if you are set to be married.
Girls love shiny things! I know I am not alone in believing that because the phrase “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” did not poof out of thin air! Why should we girls restrict ourselves from something that we love just because we are not on the verge of marriage?
Gemstones are a major fashion statement, and they have been for years. There is no denying the clean yet boisterous effect that a shimmering rock can have on an outfit. There is also no denying the hefty ticket price that these gems bring along with them.
