Mighty (Fabulous) Aphrodite

What girl hasn’t fantasized about being a Greek or Roman goddess? Okay, well, besides the toga party you attended when you were in college, the laws of society don’t usually permit us to walk around in form-fitting sheets and a crown of laurels on our heads. It seems, however, that many designers are channeling Aphrodite this season on the runway. Dior, Armani, Versace, and Ferragamo are a few who have embraced the ancient hedonist culture, and have flipped it to create high-fashion looks.

Many, if not all of these designer pieces are dresses, made with flowing fabrics that are twisted and draped over the body intricately. The colors are neutral, from heather grays to pale, peachy pinks. Several of the looks feature a deep v-neck with a perpendicular elastic or skinny belt, cinching the waist while accentuating goddess-like assets. We predict that this look is going to fly off the runway- and into your closet. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of several designer pieces that will complement your heavenly ensemble.

The best thing about wearing neutral tones is that you can accessorize with color. For the shades we discovered on the runway, we found that deep, warm pinks and citrus orange tones complement many of these looks flawlessly. Calico Juno Raspberry and Orange Chandelier Earrings are the perfect marriage of these two hues, and will undoubtedly up your hot goddess factor.

For a more bold, Roman goddess look, Calico Juno Figure Eight Venus Earrings are definitely the way to go. The name speaks for itself! These 2 1/2 inch long beauties weave in and out, creating a stunning and intricate design. These earrings are available in gold or sterling silver- and we love them both ways!

Arena CPH Barbie Gold Earrings are reminiscent of the gold leaf worn by mythological Greek gods and goddesses. They hang a full 3 inches from the ear, creating a dramatic look that will complement your outfit- and your eyes- flawlessly.

Many New Anna Beck designs follow this ancient civilization-inspired trend; and we think that the Sumba Gold Plated Crescent Earrings are a fabulous example. The cut-out fan shape has an architectural appeal, and the texture of the metal is intriguing.

All of these pieces are so versatile, they can be worn with a dramatic goddess gown or simply with jeans and a white t-shirt. The goddess is in all of us, ladies- why not channel your inner Venus and check out these heavenly pieces?
