Gearing Up For Holiday Gift Giving

Santa is making his list and checking it twice, and so should you. Holiday shopping time is here again. Even if you aren’t ready to hit the stores and stuff the stockings just yet, you can start gearing up for gift giving by putting together your plan.

Make a List: Shopping for holiday gifts can be overwhelming enough, but when picking out jewelry gifts, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the thrill of the hunt. You want to add every pretty, sparkly thing to your cart. Before you end up with a haul of things that are more your style than theirs, make a list of recipients along with notes about their style preferences, ideas you want to look for. If you think a ring might be the thing, consider what size they would most likely wear. Don’t forget to add yourself to the list. Gift shopping is hard work; you deserve a reward!

Leave Time for Personalization: Not only are monogramed gifts hot this year; they also show extra love and attention to your recipient. But, they usually take a bit of extra time to plan, order and ship. For pieces like the Nashelle Circle Identity Necklace, or the Sarah Chloe Leigh Bar Necklace, except up to three weeks for personalized items to ship. Moral of the story, don’t wait until the last minute no matter how strong the urge to procrastinate is.

Play Detective: Magnifying glass optional, but totally recommended, just for kicks. Picking a piece of jewelry they will be thrilled with may take a bit of snooping. You could just ask what they want, or you could look for other hints. Pay careful attention to the style of clothing and jewelry they typically wear as well as the colors they are drawn to. Are they a fan of statement pieces, or delicate styles? Are they in to the boho look, or do they veer towards glam? You can also point out pieces in stores, magazines or from your own collection and ask for their opinions.

Keep the Secret: When you know you are giving an awesome gift, it’s so hard to keep it quiet. You just want to share it with them ASAP. Even if you don’t blab, there are plenty of other ways to spoil the surprise before the big day. If you share a bank account or credit card with the recipient, try to make the payment in a way they won’t notice, or at least have a handy excuse for the purchase if they ask. Deliveries are another big giveaway. Accidently receiving a gift from the FedEx guy is pretty anticlimactic. So, try to ship gifts elsewhere, such as your office or a relative’s home.
