The Amazing History of Hermes Scarves

There’s a distinct reason why iconic fashion brands take on a life of their own from one generation to the next. In some cases, the mystique slowly evolves into an almost cult like following.

To digress for one moment, the Apple brand has this type of following with loyal customers who are content to sleep outside in the cold as they wait in block long lines for the privilege of purchasing the latest Apple product.

The Next Generation

The famous fashion house of Hermès, founded in 1837, clearly understands the importance of reaching out to younger customers. They do so very effectively in this visual video “language” that today’s youthful generation understands. Take a peek at this Hermès video. If you don’t speak or understand French, there’s no problem because the video says it all:

This type of marketing and branding approach keeps the brand fresh and vibrant. Hermès is also on Facebook which is another smart move regardless of the generations the lines appeal to.

Famous Hollywood stars and top models from Audrey Hepburn to Kate Moss also play a role in maintaing the allure of the brand.

With its unconventional and bold footprint in history, the original Hermès product was a beautiful horse harness since the company was formed by Thierry Hermès as a manufacturer of handcrafted horse harnesses. The pride in workmanship was obvious with the utmost attention to detail from the very start.

From horse harnesses, handbags, and silk men’s ties to the exquisite Hermès scarf, the firm continues to delight customers. The Hermès scarf evolved into a prized fashion statement because of its magnificent designs and soft textures that seems to gently caress with every twist and turn.

Just One Scarf?

There is also a tremendous secondary market with Hermès scarves. It’s interesting to note that you will find many of the designs have escalated in price due to the iconic designs, age and condition of the scarf.

If you follow the market, you’ll also find that the prices for the Paris-based firm keep going up and up given the fact that there are many women across the globe who own hundreds of these scarves. For the Hermès woman, it’s impossible for them to own just one or two designs. It’s not even a consideration because it’s not happening.

In today’s business environment a staff that telecommutes is quite common. At Hermès, the designers are not known as telecommuters, but rather freelance designers located across the globe. The firm does not have one key designer.

We used the term bold footprint in history…and it’s still going strong. Kudos!!
