The Golden Globes kicked off the 2015 awards season with many stars coming out to play for the first time this year. By now you’ve probably already read your fill about the big winners (“Boyhood” took home a truck-load of trophies) and the best gowns (Julianne Moore’s Givenchy was a dream) but now it’s time to look at the bits and baubles that really made the looks.
The prevailing theme of the evening was understated elegance with most of the ladies skipping the big jewels that often pop up on the red carpet. But that doesn’t mean the stars didn’t make a splash with some fun accessories, often opting for white metals and glistening diamonds.
Naomi Watts: A diamond serpent choker might not be something everyone can pull off, but the “Birdman” actress made it work with her yellow Gucci gown. Easily the most striking accessory of the night, the Bulgari necklace featured 76 carats of diamonds. Think a diamond snake is something you could only wear once? Not so. The star has actually stepped out in the piece several times.
The Look for Less: Get the slithery look in a slightly smaller scale with the KC Designs Gold and Diamond Snake Pendant or the Jimmy Crystal Serpent Bangle.
Emily Blunt: The “Into The Woods” actress topped off an ethereal Michael Kors gown with blue tourmaline and diamond earrings, bracelet and ring from Lorraine Schwartz. The blue stones added the perfect pizzazz to the white frock and the earrings were in line with this season’s oversized trend.
The Look for Less: Want to add the blue hue to your wardrobe? The Taara Blue Tourmaline Drop Earrings combine the blue and clear stones for a fun look with a slightly vintage vibe.
J Lo: As if the singer’s cleavage-baring, caped Zuhair Murad gown wasn’t dramatic enough, she completed the shimmering look with a massive pair of earrings, plus Jimmy Choo sandals and a clutch, both in same champagne shade. The Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings were long enough to graze her shoulders and were some of the largest of the evening.
The Look for Less: For your own set of massive sparklers, try the Ben-Amun Crystal Long Chandelier Earrings.
Lupita Nyong’o: Never one to shy away from bright, fun hues, Lupita accented her floral Giambattista Valli gown with long amethyst earrings from Chopard. Though not overly dramatic on their own, the earrings were strong enough to hold their own against the bold gown.
The Look for Less: To steal the star’s springy style, take a look at the Andara Pear Amethyst & Fuchsia Glass Triple Drop Earrings or the Kanupriya Gold Amethyst and Chalcedony Constance Earrings.
