At Max & Chloe, we’re a big fan of brand new. We love getting our hands on a designer’s latest collection (and sharing it with all of you). But, in a world practically obsessed with the newest, the most high-tech, the cutting edge, it’s refreshing to consider reverting back to something vintage.
But what is vintage anyway? A word typically used to classify wine is now this amorphous umbrella term for old-ish, worn-in, yet chic, cool, and unique. Truly vintage pieces allow the wearer to sport a momentum of history, a snapshot of a time period, like wearable art. Technically, a piece must be a certain number of years old to be officially deemed “vintage,” but many designers who favor the olden days – and really, doesn’t every generation revere the one just before it? – design baubles that have that possess a worn look. Vintage jewelry is usually eclectic and untraditional, and tends to be on the more statement side.
Vintage jewelry especially evokes a sense of timelessness, romanticism and an enduring charm.
Tat2 Designs has a knack for creating vintage-inspired pieces that we love, like these fantastic matching Vintage Gold and Green Enamel necklace and earrings. These pieces are made up of textured green enamel and old-fashioned coins, giving this necklace a polished, ultra-sophisticated, quaint feel. Tat2 also crafted the vintage-esque Gold Black Crystal and White Enamel Bangle Bracelet, a classy bracelet that features gold coins as well. We’re fans.
Sophia and Chloe’s Gold and Limoges Porcelain Couple Cameo Anne Necklace is a charming vintage-inspired piece that we’re in love with. In that same vein, their collection also includes a long-chained Porcelain Rose Cameo Gold Chain Necklace. Both pieces feel like treasured heirlooms!
We’re obsessed with this Snake Wrapped Pendant Necklace by Allison Daniel. The luxurious long gold chain is complimented by large brownish-black Agate stone that is simply gorgeous. The best part is the gold snake that wraps itself around the pendant – which gives the necklace an edgy feel – and the gold prongs – which add a vintage air.
The Ivory Stone Double Row Crystal Ring by Liz Palacios is vintage chic at its finest. This totally affordable cocktail ring features Swarovski crystals and a timeless, oh-snap-look-what-I-just-found-in-Grandma’s-jewelry-box sort of feel to it.
Old is the new, well, new!
