We may be jumping the unbloomed gun here, but we can’t help but get excited about spring, for a myriad of reasons. One, we’ve read about as many winter wardrobe how-tos as we can manage in one month—we get it, tights, booties and a jewel-toned frock. Secondly, it’s just too cold and our skin could stand to see the sun. But most importantly, new season means new fashion, for which we’re always ready to rock. We’re especially thrilled for what 2013’s spring season has to offer. Last fall at Fashion Week, designers pumped out some seriously strong looks for spring, with sharp architectural shapes, heavy light-and-dark contrasts and slick-and-sturdy fabrics. Which only means one thing: almost anything goes for spring this year.
Rest assured we will be testing out the new trends, but don’t think we’re forgetting about the tried-and-true spring season must-do’s. For us, the spring season also offers an opportunity to soften up with the romanticism of a fresh new take. So shed your wools, leather and tweed and trade them in for light, unrestrictive styles (there was a lot of that at NYFW too, with veiled gauzy overlays and patchwork print dresses). One signature spring style we’ll always reach for? The pastel. With a rainbow of soft hues, pastels recall May flowers and Easter egg dyes, both quintessentially spring.
