This Sunday night is the annual telecast of the Golden Globe Awards, famously thought to be the biggest party in Hollywood. Not only are the Golden Globes less stuffy than the Oscars, but all the stars (from MOVIES and TV) are seen sitting at large round tables and routinely socialize during the event - a fact highlighted each and every commercial break. This year’s Globes are hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Peohler, so the evening is sure to be entertaining.
Each year, we anticipate what our favorite celebs will wear. What type of gown will they don? What hair style will they choose? And (most importantly) what jewelry will they rock?! In our excitement for Sunday’s show, we decided to predict/project/suggest what some of our favorite actresses will wear. These jewelry selections are really just in the vein of the what-we-would-like-to-see-them-wearing category, but it was super fun to make our selections nonetheless!
Sandra Bullock, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, for Gravity, is that rare breed of movie star who possesses elegance and demands respect, but consistently tops our list for celeb we want to grab a cocktail with. Something about her (perhaps her humor, her BFF status with George Clooney, or her laugh) makes Sandra Bullock undeniably classy and fun. For the star astronaut of the year, we have selected a pair of earrings that also matches those same two adjectives: Stefanie Somers’ Silver and Red Swarovski Elements Brittany Drop Earrings.
It’s difficult to dispute that this has been the year of Jennifer Lawrence. Still fresh off an Oscar win for her portrayal of an emotionally vulnerable woman in last year’s Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence has another promising awards season ahead of her, following her recent debut in the film American Hustle (for which she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture). Oh yeah, and Lawrence is Katniss Everdeen in the insanely popular Hunger Games film series. Perhaps most famously, though, the young actress recently chopped off her hair and opted for the increasingly popular pixie cut look. So, for you, Ms. Lawrence, we have selected some gorgeous golden yellow drop earrings, which we think will really pop now that you have short hair! And then there’s Kerry Washington. Ohhh, Kerry. Is there an actress of TV who can incite more tweets with a single lip quiver than you? We think not. Washington is nominated for Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama, for her whirlwind, white knight portrayal of powerhouse Olivia Pope on ABC’s Scandal. Washington is so classy, but we are so used to seeing her wear white (which looks beautiful on her, by the way). But in the hopes of a little color (nothing crazy, mind you, just a little emerald) we are suggesting Kerry sport earrings like Roberta Chiarella’s Gunmetal Chrysoprase and Black Crystal Double Teardrop Earrings.
Sunday night marks two very important evenings in TV. In addition to the Globes, the season 3 premiere of Girls is airing on HBO. Wooo! The Brooklyn ladies are returning, and that means more Lena Dunham and the gang! Dunham, who is nominated in the category of Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy, has made some interesting fashion choices in the past, and this Sunday we are just hoping she does something chic and age-appropriate. Branching off that idea, we have selected some gorgeous Ben-Amun studs - Gold and Multi Crystal Floral Cluster Earrings - because they’re GORGEOUS and delightfully youthful. Yipee!
