Trend Alert: Gladiator Heels

This spring, celebrities and smart shoppers traded ballet flats, peeptoe sandals, flip-flops, and wedges, all survivors of fads from other seasons, in for the latest trend: gladiator-style sandals. The sandals came in many different styles, but there were some commonalities. The soles of the sandals had either virtually no heel or only an inch and a half. The straps wearers wrapped around their feet gave the illusion that the wearer had quite literally stepped into the shoe. These gladiator-style sandals which are reminiscent of Gladiator, 300, Troy, and ancient Greek culture have an undeniable charm. Can you imagine our delight when starlets traded in the flat sole style for heels when they attended award shows and strolled across the big screen.

While the low flat style sandal is perfect during the day, the high heeled style is classy and sensational at night, and wearing a fad to a formal event is only something a true fashionista can pull off. She pulls it off by knowing how to update the style, put her own original spin on it, and coordinate it perfectly with the rest of her outfit. Hilary Duff kept her look hip with a gorgeous draped lightweight strapless bright blue dress. Her look was fun and summerish, and she didn’t upstage her heels with too many accessories. You can capture a similar effect with our Lorelei Isa Baby Croc Golden Clutch purse. Gwenyth Paltrow kept things simple and understated with a cuff around her wrist that matches her heels - try our Tracy Matthews Smooth Small Cuff for instant style!
