Flower Child

One of the super hot trends for spring of 2009 is anything floral. Yeah, like that was a huge stretch. Spring, flowers, got it! Joking aside, it really can be easy to cross the line from stunningly chic floral ensemble to grandma’s housedress. The thing to keep in mind is when choosing a floral pattern is that it should look more Georgia O’Keefe than Claude Monet. What we mean by this is that the designs on the clothing should be large, colorful, and saturated as opposed to more splotchy and mottled-looking. A good example includes pieces from Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2009 collection, which can be seen in the picture above.

The trend carries over even into your accessories for this spring. What’s nice is that the flowery accessories will only add to your already high-levels of fabulousness without overdoing it.

Brian Danielle’s Diamond Flower Necklace is a 3-D flower is magnificent with 91 glimmering diamonds that weighs in at just under one carat. It will daintily rest along your collarbone and add just the right amount of shimmer to your look. This necklace may be on the small side, but it will go a long way. It can be worn in conjunction with other jewelry pieces, but is no less stunning when worn as the sole accessory.

We also love Kerri Wilder’s Gold Flower Earrings. These wiry flower outline earrings are a delightful spin on classic hoop earrings. They add a bit of dimension intrigue to your look. We can’t tell you how many times we’ve gazed longingly at these earrings, and now we have the perfect excuse to buy them!

What about rings, you ask? Believe us, there is not shortage on the flowered ring front. This is the part we get really excited about because there really are so many options that there are flower-inspired rings that will go with any look. Blu Bijoux Flower Rings come in 5 different enamel colors: black, white, brown, rose, or purple. These cocktail rings look most like the real deal with their curvy sculptured petals. Lisa Stewart Camellia Flower Ring looks like a small camellia flower that has been frozen in gold. This luminous little bloom will adorn your finger beautifully, and you’ll never have to worry that it may wilt. Finally, Sloane’s 3-D Rose Cocktail Ring is the most abstract flower of the bunch. Each petal-outline is formed from 14k gold -plated sterling silver. The “petals” are even layered in the style of a real flower, but staggered in a way that each petal is visible when viewed from the top.

So when it comes to showing the world how fashionable you are, say it with flowers.
