"Beautiful but..."

These earrings are beautiful and feel substantial - not cheap. Having said that I was a little surprised at the cheap, flimsy backs that were sent with them. Earrings as heavy as these need a sturdy back to them to make them lay on the ear correctly but they were sent with tiny, little round posts that did not do the earrings justice. Worse, they were packed in bubble wrap and an envelope but no box. By the time they arrived at my house the one of the posts had pierced the envelope and was bent, which did not help the way lay on the ear either. I was a little surprised that there was so little thought given to these two things. I don't know if it is the designer or the retailer who cheaped out like that on those two issues. Are plastic disc backs so expensive they can't be supplied? I would think that the designer would want the earrings to look posh and to their best advantage. I am also surprised that a simple, protective cardboard box was apparently deemed too extravagant for their transit and presentation. I've purchased much cheaper earrings tOhat were packed and shipped with a lot more pride than these were. The earrings are gorgeous - I just can't tell if they are cockeyed because of the slanted posts or the cheap backs. Somebody needs to evaluate their design or business practices.
