Angel Court

The Angel Court Jewels collection is a collaboration of artistic expression by designers Angela Burgess & Courtney Taylor. Drawing inspiration from their backgrounds in fashion and art, they have united to create the jewelry once only found in their thoughts & dreams.

Courtney Taylor was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi, graduating from Meridian High in 1992. After ten years as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, she decided to move back home and turn her hobby into her craft.

After meeting business partner Angela Burgess while playing tennis, Courtney says they realized that “We were both treasure hunters — we liked to antique. We started doing that, and she started selling the jewelry that I was making out of natural stones for me."

Angela Burgess is not a Meridian native, but she has spent the past few years there with her husband who was stationed at NAS Meridian. After her chance meeting with Taylor at a tennis lesson, their friendship bonded over a common love for antiques. Angela relate: The business part of the jewelry was something we lucked into.

"We just happened to be out scouring for treasures, and we found this huge box of tangles of broken up jewelry," Burgess said. "We dumped it out on the driveway and as we were sifting through it, ideas popped up."

As Courtney took the pile of metals and wove them into beautiful pieces of unique jewelry, Burgess recalled thinking: "That's just money sitting there. I can sell this — I know I can sell it, so let's do it." Angel Court Jewels was born, and today all of the Angel Court pieces are made out of vintage items.

Whether scouring the Deep South or the World beyond, Angela and Courtney are constantly in search of antique estate pieces and nontraditional objects to incorporate into their one-of-a-kind jewelry designs. While both designers have deep roots & leave their hearts in the South, both have also traveled extensively and their experiences are reflected in their eclectic designs & views of the world around them. Combining antique elements with modern ideals gives these jewels a romantic sensibility, yet rock ‘n roll edge.

Each piece in the Angel Court Jewels collection is handcrafted in their historic loft in the heart of downtown Meridian, Mississippi, while sales and public relations are based in the beautiful and notable Heights district of Little Rock, Arkansas. The Angel Court Jewels collection has a vast national & international following as well as being featured in many renowned fashion and other publications, such as Vanity Fair, Women’s Wear Daily, Daily Candy, nylon, Rolling Stone, Maxim, Lucky, People and Billboard.
